The visit is scheduled for May 14–15 and will coincide with the annual bilateral leaders’ meeting.
"It will be Prime Minister Albanese's first visit since his reelection and reflects the strategic relationship between our two countries," Soemirat noted in a written statement issued on Monday.
He stated that Albanese and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will discuss bilateral ties, with a particular focus on economic issues such as food and energy security, as well as trade.
Soemirat added that the two leaders will also address key priorities for both governments, along with regional and global matters.
He emphasized that Albanese's visit demonstrates the strength of bilateral ties, which have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
As reported by ABC News last week, Albanese confirmed plans to visit Indonesia and meet with Prabowo on May 14, following the swearing-in of his new government.
“We have no more important relationship than Indonesia. We have an important economic relationship with them. They will grow to be the fourth-largest economy in the world," Albanese was quoted as saying.
In addition to economic cooperation, he highlighted the “important defense and security relationship” between the two countries.
Albanese described Prabowo as a “good friend of mine on a personal level, as well as our countries being close.”
