Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked Hajj officers to prioritize services for elderly pilgrims during a visit to the Medan Hajj Dormitory, Medan, North Sumatra, on Thursday.

According to a press release received the same day, Gibran emphasized that the government is paying full attention to the smooth implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage, in keeping with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto.

During his visit, the Vice President interacted with the pilgrims and asked about the services provided by Hajj officers. He also paid special attention to the elderly pilgrims there.

"I met with several men and women who were over 80 years old. I asked the officers to prioritize these elderly men and women," he said.

He also reminded the officers of the importance of readiness and swiftness in responding to the needs of the pilgrims, including special conditions requiring immediate attention.

In addition to reviewing pilgrim arrangements in Indonesia, the government is continuing to make efforts to improve services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, including matters related to costs and accommodation, he said.

One of the initiatives pursued by the government is the development of a Hajj village in Saudi Arabia.

Indonesia will dispatch 221 thousand Hajj pilgrims this year. The number of Hajj officers has been capped at 4,420 following the grant of an additional quota of 2,210 by Saudi Arabia.

According to the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerization System (Siskohat), as of May 15, 2025, at least 98,558 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have left for Saudi Arabia to perform the pilgrimage.
