He made the remarks while holding a joint press conference with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra after their bilateral meeting at the Government House in Bangkok on Monday.
“We welcome cooperation in the aviation sector and the development of technologies in this field,” he said in his statement, which was followed online via a streaming broadcast by the Thai Prime Minister’s Office.
PM Shinawatra explained that the new routes will link Bangkok and Phuket with East Java and North Sumatra, offering new opportunities for travel and business.
The new routes will boost two-way tourism and enhance regular and regional connectivity, she said.
She added that the Thai government has assigned relevant agencies to explore broader tourism cooperation with Indonesia.
During the bilateral meeting, Prabowo also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Thailand, especially through the holding of a joint trade forum involving both countries’ investment agencies.
“We are committed to holding the First Joint Trade Commission meeting in the near future,” he said.
He then highlighted that currently, the value of trade and investment between the two countries has reached US$18 billion and expressed optimism that this could be further increased through cooperation in halal industry development and the digital economy.
The upcoming Joint Trade Commission meeting is expected to serve as a strategic platform to boost trade volume, address tariff and non-tariff barriers, and create new collaboration opportunities in industrial and digital trade sectors.
