Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said in Jakarta on Friday that the ministry has prepared additional funding for the MBG Program, but its disbursement will depend on the progress of the program’s implementation.
“In the state budget (APBN), we are ready to allocate additional funding, as previously mentioned, amounting to 100 trillion rupiahs, if the program reaches 82.9 million beneficiaries during the fourth quarter of 2025,” he informed during the May 2025 edition of the APBN KiTa press conference.
As of May 21, 2025, the MBG Program has reached 3.98 million beneficiaries, served by 1,386 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs)/public kitchens, with state budget utilization of 3 trillion rupiahs.
The realization of beneficiaries and budget remains far from the target allocation of 71 trillion rupiahs in the 2025 state budget, with the initial beneficiary target set at 17 million, consisting of 15.5 million schoolchildren and 2.4 million pregnant/breastfeeding women and toddlers.
However, at the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, the MBG Program is now targeting 82.9 million beneficiaries served by 32 thousand SPPGs.
To meet this target, the government plans to increase the MBG budget by 100 trillion rupiahs, bringing the total allocation to 171 trillion rupiahs.
Earlier, head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said that the mechanism for the additional MBG budget of 50 trillion rupiahs is currently being drafted into a presidential regulation (Perpres).
“We’re currently working on the mechanism first, which is why there are accelerations taking place. Accelerations, after all, require funding,” he said after a discussion on the draft Perpres on MBG Governance at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in Jakarta on May 9.
