The LoI was signed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia and his meeting with President Prabowo Subianto.
The agreement covers the procurement of strategic main defense equipment, such as Rafale fighter jets manufactured by Dassault Aviation and Scorpene submarines by Naval Group.
“Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) will continue to oversee and provide input on every strategic cooperation plan between Indonesia and France to ensure its alignment with national interests,” Anggraini remarked.

She also emphasized that the cooperation should prioritize transparency, accountability, and the transfer of technology to help develop human resource capacity.
Furthermore, she explained that President Macron’s visit and meeting with President Prabowo represent a concrete step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Beyond the defense sector, she highlighted that the visit also reflects strong bilateral ties in the fields of education and inter-parliamentary cooperation between Indonesia and France.
She remarked that President Macron’s visit agenda in Indonesia, which included engaging with academic communities and the younger generation by visiting the Jakarta State University and the Military Academy in Magelang, was a positive gesture.
“This shows that the cooperation goes beyond the military sphere, encompassing cultural, educational, and public diplomacy fields as well,” she added.
Anggraini expressed hope that the Indonesia-France partnership will not be limited to transactional engagements but will evolve into a long-term strategic alliance that is mutually beneficial and contributes to peace in the Indo-Pacific region.
