Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka accentuated the importance of completing the development of the core infrastructure of Indonesia's future capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan on time and in accordance with established quality standards.

"We are here to ensure that the construction of infrastructure that supports the operations of Nusantara runs according to the deadlines and standards that have been set," he remarked during a visit to the city's development site in North Penajam Paser on Thursday (May 29).

Gibran highlighted that his visit also aimed to ensure that all construction works are on track and align with the government's vision for the city.

"Our inspection is aimed at ensuring that the development of Nusantara is truly in accordance with the grand vision of setting up a new seat of government," he stated.

The vice president stressed that Nusantara is envisioned as a modern, smart, and sustainable future capital city for Indonesia.

Upon arriving at the Nusantara International Airport, under ongoing construction, Gibran and his entourage promptly headed to a segment of a toll road, whose development has progressed to 70 percent.

He then proceeded to inspect the construction of Abdi Waluyo Hospital, which is now 75.67 percent complete.

VP Gibran thereafter inspected the initial development phase of Gunadarma University before visiting the Vice Presidential Palace, which is currently 42.67 percent complete.

He also reviewed the development of a residential tower for civil servants (97.09 percent), the State Mosque (60.48 percent), and a basilica (4.63 percent).

Additionally, Gibran visited Hermina Hospital and an office for a coordinating ministry, both of which have completed their physical construction phases.

Meanwhile, Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono stated that VP Gibran's visit to Nusantara was meant to ensure that the capital city project gives equal attention to environmental and social aspects, rather than focusing solely on physical development.

"The visit of the vice president has boosted our morale at OIKN to continue to work better and faster," he stated.
