Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana emphasized that fashion events are not merely about clothing but also serve to introduce Indonesia’s diverse cultures, making them an appealing attraction for tourists.

“Fashion is more than just appearance. It reflects identity, opens cross-cultural dialogues, and offers tourists a window to see Indonesia’s rich and meaningful diversity,” she said in her remarks at the closing ceremony of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2025 in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to Widiyanti, fashion events like Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) demonstrate the synergy between fashion and tourism, creating significant opportunities for various destinations.

“This collaboration opens vast opportunities to develop event-based tourism destinations, boost hotel occupancy, empower textile and craft micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and foster pride in Indonesian culture,” she remarked.

She also praised the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) for its contributions and consistent efforts to develop a fashion industry rooted in the cultural values of the Indonesian archipelago.

In this context, APPMI proudly presented Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2025 under the theme “Ronakultura Jakarta.”
