To support this, the ministry is using existing frequencies and preparing frequency auctions for cellular operators, communication and politics special staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Arnanto Nurprabowo, said on Monday.
"In the future, broad and inclusive Internet access at affordable prices for the community will be a priority," he added.
In addition, the ministry has asked cellular operators to expand Internet access in the 3T regions.
He emphasized that Communication and Digital Minister Affairs Meutya Hafid has committed to accelerating the uniform distribution of affordable and fast Internet access.
According to Nurprabowo, this is needed in the 3T and border areas, especially in public service sectors such as education and health.
In fact, several regional heads from the provincial and district/city levels have visited the ministry to discuss the program.
"Regions need Internet access for education and health services to be on par with big cities. The distribution of quality Internet networks at the national level will continue to be our priority," he said.
His party is collaborating with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming to step up efforts to widen Internet access in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Minister Hafid said that the acceleration of digital transformation is a top priority for supporting national economic growth. One of the main efforts to achieve this is expanding Internet access, especially in the education, health, and government sectors.
"We are committed to accelerating the distribution of Internet access throughout Indonesia to evenly distribute the benefits of the digital economy," she emphasized.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, informed that at least 1,705 locations in Papua are now connected to the Internet.
"The Internet connection covers public services, including schools, health units, village offices, markets, places of worship, and police and military posts," he said.
