Bengkayang, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the Harry Hadisoemantri Air Base, Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan, on Thursday, to participate in a mass corn harvest and to mark the inaugural export of local corn to Malaysia.

According to ANTARA's monitoring, the president landed at the air base at 10:05 a.m. local time and was greeted by hundreds of elementary, junior high, and senior high students waving Indonesian flags along the roadside.

At the event location, Prabowo was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto, National Police (Polri) Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan.

There, he toured an exhibition featuring agricultural machinery and equipment, Polri's food self-sufficiency initiatives, the West Kalimantan Police's crop-drying facility, and products from micro, small, and medium enterprises backed by the central and local governments.

During the event, the head of state also engaged in discussions on the displayed products with exhibition staff, Polri chief, Minister Sulaiman, and Minister Santoso.

In addition to sending off consignments of corn to Kuching, Malaysia, President Prabowo is scheduled to inaugurate a corn warehouse and integrated drying facility in the district. This facility can store five thousand tons of corn and dry up to 300 tons per day.

Given its strength, the facility is projected to serve as a distribution hub for local corn, contributing to efforts to boost the economic value of West Kalimantan's agriculture sector.

Additionally, the president will simultaneously officiate the groundbreaking for 18 corn warehouses across various regions, all under the management of the Polri. These new facilities are envisioned as part of a national corn barn network.
