Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is confident of withstanding global oil price volatility in the wake of Israeli strikes on Iran, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung has said.

According to Tanjung, Indonesia is continuing to make efforts to ramp up domestic oil and gas production to minimize the impact of international volatility on the stability of domestic energy supply.

“Indonesia is pursuing energy security; we are striving to increase domestic oil and gas (output),” he said here on Friday.

Currently, he informed, Indonesia’s oil lifting has reached 610 thousand barrels per day (BPD), exceeding the State Budget target of 605 thousand BPD.

“This is now an average of above 600 thousand barrels. This can be seen from this month, it is already above 610 thousand barrels,” he pointed out.

Thus, there has been an increase in lifting compared to the first quarter of 2025, when it stood at 580 thousand BPD.

Earlier in the day, Israel said it had carried out strikes on dozens of military targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying in a video statement that the military operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove the threat.

Israel also targeted several Iranian military leaders, RIA Novosti reported, citing sources.

Meanwhile, Israeli news portal Ynet, citing official sources, claimed that Iranian military leaders, including the chief of general staff, as well as a number of nuclear scientists were likely killed in the Israeli attacks.

The tense situation in the Middle East has pushed up global oil prices to around $72–73 per barrel, higher than the average Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) of $65.29 per barrel.
