Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice Minister of Communications and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria discussed aspects related to artificial intelligence (AI), including its use in journalism and advancements in space technology, during his participation in the AI Summit London 2025.

"The demand for artificial intelligence has never been clearer. In today's meetings, the conversation surrounding AI has shifted from 'whether' to 'how fast' it can be operationalized. For forward-thinking executives, AI is the foundation for future success," Nezar noted in his official statement on Saturday.

Nezar's attendance at the AI Summit London 2025 aimed to strengthen Indonesia's ties with the global AI innovator community and explore strategic collaboration opportunities that could accelerate the country's AI ecosystem development.

During his visit, Nezar attended two important sessions that aligned with the Ministry of Communications and Digital's strategic agenda in utilizing and regulating AI.

On Thursday (June 12), Nezar joined a discussion on the AI revolution in journalism, which was seen as offering significant potential for faster, more personalized content creation in editorial settings. However, this session also sharply highlighted critical challenges, including the risks of amplifying misinformation and fragmenting the media landscape.

The discussion centered on how editorial teams can harness AI’s potential while upholding journalistic integrity, ensuring accuracy, and navigating the ethical complexities of AI-based generated content.

Speakers in this session, including Jane Barrett, Head of Reuters AI Strategy, and Alessandra Galloni, Reuters Editor-in-Chief, shared insights into their strategies for responsible AI use in news production.

Nezar also took part in the "Space Meets AI" session, which examined how space could serve as the next frontier for AI-driven infrastructure development. The discussion focused on the role of intelligent systems in transforming space into an extension of Earth, from AI-powered lunar data centers to sustainable habitats.

Panelists highlighted that these innovations will redefine global connectivity and sustainability in the future. The session was led by Eileen M. Vidrine, former chief data & AI officer at the US Department of the Air Force, and featured Dr. Craig Brown, director of investment at the UK Space Agency, and Shefali Sharma, co-founder & director of Oxford Dynamics Limited.

According to Nezar, participating in the AI Summit London 2025 reinforces Indonesia's position as a proactive nation in the ethical and responsible adoption, development, and regulation of AI technology.

He believes the forum is also a crucial platform for building international collaborations that will drive AI innovation in Indonesia and globally, aligning with the efforts to realize Indonesia's Vision 2045.
