Speaking at a session titled "The Asia Get Together" in London, the United Kingdom, on Monday (June 9), he emphasized that the Indonesian government deems it crucial to strike a balance between innovation and good governance.
"Indonesia's approach is rooted in commitments to fostering innovation while safeguarding democratic values," he remarked, as cited from his ministry's release in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Patria highlighted that Indonesia had started leveraging AI to modernize public services, support agricultural activities, reform the education sector, and promote financial inclusion.
However, he acknowledged ongoing challenges in developing and distributing digital infrastructure evenly across the country.
"As an archipelagic country encompassing over 17 thousand islands, Indonesia prioritizes ensuring equitable access to digital infrastructure, including those related to broadband and cloud services, in both urban and remote areas," he affirmed.

He remarked that to develop human resources capable of supporting a strong AI ecosystem, the government is pursuing long-term investment and international cooperation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
In this context, the deputy minister expressed confidence that international forums like the London Tech Week can help Indonesia foster collaborations that elevate its role beyond that of a mere technology consumer.
"Such forums enable international collaboration on AI research and commercialization, regulatory sandboxes, knowledge transfer, capacity building, and capital mobilization," he remarked, emphasizing Indonesia's vast potential as a growing market.
London Tech Week 2025 is taking place on June 9-11 as a platform to discuss the future of technology in the global business landscape.
Malaysian Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo and a representative from the Philippine Department of Science and Technology, Napoleon Juanillo, were among the attendees.
