Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto invited the Singaporean government to become more actively involved in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare system, including by expanding access to medical education and improving the quality of health services.

In his statement at the Leaders’ Retreat at Singapore's Parliament House on Monday, Prabowo said that Singapore’s experience and expertise could significantly contribute to accelerating the development of Indonesia’s health sector.

“In the health sector, I invite Singapore to participate more actively in our healthcare transformation efforts,” he remarked.

Addressing Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and several high-ranking officials from both countries, the president emphasized that one of his government’s main priorities is to expand access to health worker education and enhance the quality of health services nationwide.

“I plan to build more medical and nursing colleges. I believe that Singapore’s experience can provide great benefits for us,” he remarked.

He also viewed the partnership with Singapore as an opportunity for knowledge transfer, health worker training, and comprehensive health system reform.

The healthcare transformation is part of Indonesia’s human development agenda, aligned with the Free Health Check-up (CKG) program currently being implemented to promote early detection and prevention of chronic diseases.

To date, the CKG has facilitated health screenings for over eight million participants across Indonesia within the last four months since its launch in February 2025.

The Indonesian government has provided a budget of US$300 million for the program, making it one of the largest state allocations in the world.

The CKG program is viewed as a long-term investment aimed at reducing the country’s economic burden from non-communicable diseases.
