Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto departed for Russia's St Petersburg on Monday evening to continue his state visit after completing his agenda in Singapore.

Accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, President Prabowo departed from the Paya Lebar Air Base at 10:45 p.m. local time aboard the presidential aircraft PK-GRD. He will make several stopovers in other countries before arriving in Russia on Wednesday.

Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, and Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo were among the officials sending off the presidential entourage at the airbase.

President Prabowo's visit to Russia is at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, whom he will meet in a bilateral meeting to begin his agenda in Russia.

The president will then attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025, taking place in the city on June 18-21, 2025. Prabowo is scheduled to deliver keynote remarks during the event's closing on June 21.

Cabinet Secretary Wijaya described the state visit as having a strategic value in strengthening cooperation and the comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and Russia.

He stated that Russia's visit reflected Indonesia's status as "a great country that is becoming more respected by the world amidst the increasing global challenges."

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin are among the cabinet ministers expected to accompany the president in Russia.

At a press briefing on Thursday (June 12), Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Rolliansyah "Roy" Soemirat stated that Prabowo and Putin will discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and global issues during their meeting.

He also confirmed that several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering transportation development, shipbuilding, education cooperation, creative economy, and technology will be inked during Prabowo's visit to Russia.
