The AGC, on Monday (June 16), stated that the Singapore court rejected Tannos’ request for bail and ordered him to remain in custody.
“The extradition process for Paulus Tannos from Singapore to Indonesia is becoming clearer. Therefore, we can soon proceed with the extradition,” Agtas stated on Tuesday.
The committal hearing for Tannos’ extradition is scheduled to take place in Singapore from June 23 to 25.
Agtas emphasized that the court’s decision to deny bail reflects the Singaporean government's strong commitment to enforcing the extradition agreement between the two countries.
He added that the ruling also demonstrates the robust cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, particularly in the field of law enforcement.
“I urge all parties to continue supporting each other. Of course, we cannot intervene in Singapore’s legal proceedings,” he said.
Indonesia formally submitted its extradition request for Tannos in February, followed by additional supporting documents on April 23.
This request built upon an earlier provisional submission by Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) to Singaporean authorities, which led to Tannos’ arrest by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
On January 17, Singapore’s Attorney-General officially confirmed the arrest in response to Indonesia’s extradition request.
This case marks the first extradition proceeding following the signing of the extradition agreement between the Indonesian and Singaporean governments.
Tannos, a fugitive wanted by Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), is implicated in the electronic identity card (KTP-e) procurement corruption case. He has been on the wanted list since October 19, 2021.
