Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is exploring ways to accelerate job creation by harnessing creativity and skills to develop talent across industries and improve the welfare of transmigrants.

"The structure of employment is constantly evolving from labor-intensive agriculture to capital-intensive industry, and now to the creativity-driven economy," said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Wednesday.

He explained that the creative industry leverages creativity, innovation, and technology to generate added value across multiple subsectors.

According to Harsya, the discussion focused on potential collaboration between his ministry and the Ministry of Transmigration, emphasizing the role of the creative economy in empowering people through transmigration programs.

He noted that 17 creative economy subsectors are showing consistent growth and hold significant potential to absorb more workers.

To support this, Harsya encouraged the Ministry of Transmigration to develop integrated creative hubs that can foster a dynamic and sustainable ecosystem for creative industries.

Also speaking at the event, Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah welcomed the collaboration and reaffirmed his ministry's commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all, in pursuit of sustainable economic development.

“Transmigration is no longer just about relocating people. Our current focus is on developing new, integrated economic zones to improve community welfare,” Iftitah said.

He emphasized the importance of making transmigration zones more productive and sustainable, citing initiatives such as Local Transmigration and Patriotic Transmigration.

“If we’re building an economic zone, it’s not just about relocating people—it’s about building a civilization. The word ‘trans’ must carry meaning: to cross into something better,” he added.

Iftitah said the creative economy offers fresh perspectives to make integrated transmigration zones more appealing and impactful.
