The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and reflected the mutual respect and harmonious ties between the two nations, according to a statement from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday.
Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya personally greeted the Czech leader in the hotel lobby and escorted him to a private room for the bilateral meeting.
Despite knowing that President Prabowo was only making a stopover en route to Russia, Prime Minister Fiala expressed appreciation for the Indonesian leader’s gesture. He also recalled his own visit to Indonesia two years ago, describing it as a memorable experience.
President Prabowo welcomed the remarks and expressed hope that Indonesia and the Czech Republic would continue to strengthen their bilateral relationship.
The Indonesian head of state, accompanied by a limited delegation, is scheduled to continue his journey to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin after completing activities in Singapore.
According to the plan, Prabowo will receive a state welcome and hold a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart on Thursday (June 19), followed by delivering a keynote address at the 2025 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum the next day.
In a separate statement issued before Prabowo's visit to Singapore, Cabinet Secretary Wijaya noted that the president’s agenda in Russia is expected to further elevate relations between the two countries.
“The visit is also proof of Indonesia’s standing as a great nation in the eyes of the international community, especially amid ever-evolving global challenges,” Cabinet Secretary stated.
