"We all share a commitment to accomplishing a noble mission of ensuring the fulfillment of nutritional needs of all children. I believe that through this collaboration, we can help Indonesia transform into a healthier, more resilient, and more prosperous country," Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana affirmed.
According to a press release cited here on Thursday, she made these remarks during a visit to the Bandung Polytechnic of Tourism in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (June 18), where the government is holding training for prospective MBG kitchen operators on June 11–24.
This activity involves 1,600 participants from the Defense Ministry's Indonesian Development Pioneer Scholars (SPPI) program, teaching them food material processing techniques, managerial skills, leadership, and community service.
"We are preparing young Indonesian talents who are resilient, skilled, and ready to contribute in various fields. They are also expected to operate MBG kitchens to help improve people’s nutritional intake and bolster food security," she remarked.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana lauded the tourism and defense ministries for their initiative to integrate the MBG and SPPI programs through kitchen management training.
He stated that training participants would later be stationed in regions across Indonesia to establish and operate the MBG kitchens, officially known as Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).
The government aims to set up at least 30 thousand SPPGs to expand the MBG program’s coverage to 82.9 million beneficiaries.
The BGN reported on Monday (June 16) that the program has catered to the nutritional needs of nearly five million residents through 1,785 SPPGs. Beneficiaries include schoolchildren, toddlers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.
