“Participants are expected to arrive at the Home Affairs Ministry headquarters by 8 a.m. tomorrow and board the Whoosh fast train to Bandung at 10 a.m.,” Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, said at a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday.
He added that the ministry’s secretary-general is scheduled to see off the regional heads at the Jakarta office.
Upon their arrival in Bandung, they will be welcomed by the IPDN rector, the head of the ministry's Human Resources Development Agency, and Sugiarto.
The deputy minister said that 93 regional leaders were originally scheduled to be briefed at the upcoming retreat from June 22–26, 2025. They included officials who won electoral disputes and those who were re-elected in repeat elections.
However, seven leaders have confirmed their inability to participate in the retreat.
The mayor of Serang, Central Mamberamo district head, North Bengkulu deputy district head, Central Buton deputy district head, Melawi deputy district head, and deputy mayor of Banjarbaru have all cited health reasons for not joining the meeting.
Meanwhile, Highland Papua Governor John Tabo opted out following the passing of his mother.
“He (Tabo) had arrived in Jakarta but returned to his region immediately after receiving the news (of his mother’s demise),” Sugiarto said.
The deputy minister informed that the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) will brief participants on three key topics: the primary duties of regional heads, the central government’s eight priority missions, and corruption eradication.
