Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower is treading with caution to ensure the accurate disbursement of wage subsidy assistance (BSU).

"We want to be careful to ensure it is received by those who meet the requirements or are eligible to receive it,” an expert staff member to the Minister of Manpower, Aris Wahyudi, said in Jakarta on Monday.

The assistance, amounting to Rp300 thousand (around US$18.28) per month, will be disbursed at once for June and July 2025. Thus, each beneficiary will receive Rp600 thousand.

The program, which is targeting 17.3 million workers and contract-based teachers, earlier experienced delays in the completion of data validation. However, now, the process has been wrapped up and entered the finalization stage.

Wahyudi assured that the Ministry of Manpower coordinated with a number of stakeholders and agencies, such as the state workers’ insurance provider BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, to validate the data of prospective beneficiaries.

The provision of wage subsidy assistance is regulated by Manpower Minister’s Regulation Number 5 of 2025.

As per the regulation, the beneficiaries need to meet certain criteria. They need to be Indonesian citizens and earn a maximum monthly wage of Rp3.5 million (around US$212.48).

They must also be active members of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s insurance program as of April 2025.

The provision of BSU for June and July is a part of the government’s economic stimulus package to maintain people’s purchasing power and stabilize the economy. The government has allocated a budget of Rp10.72 trillion (approximately US$650.7 million) for the assistance.
