During a meeting with Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on the sidelines of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Summit in Suva, Fiji, on Monday, Nasir described Fiji as one of Indonesia’s main partners in the Pacific.
“Fiji has been a good friend and important partner for Indonesia in the Pacific region. In the future, Indonesia is committed to continuing to improve our bilateral relations,” he said in a statement.
Indonesia expects Fiji, which has just taken over the MSG chairmanship, to encourage constructive and future-oriented cooperation for shared prosperity and peace through the organization.
Moreover, Pacific island countries have an important role in the current geopolitical landscape. Therefore, regional solidarity must be fostered so that it can become a positive force in addressing global challenges.
“It is important for the Pacific community to unite to encourage concrete cooperation to advance shared peace and prosperity,” Nasir said.
