Tangerang (ANTARA) - Eleven Indonesian nationals evacuated from Iran have arrived in Jakarta, with another 48 expected to return on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

“The return of 11 Indonesian evacuees from Iran to Jakarta on June 24 will be followed by the arrival of 48 others, along with one foreign national, today,” said Judha Nugraha, the ministry’s director for the protection of Indonesian citizens, on Wednesday.

He said the evacuees had traveled overland from Iran to Baku, Azerbaijan, before flying to Jakarta via Istanbul and Doha. They are part of a group of 97 Indonesians evacuated from Iran amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

“In addition to the 49 evacuees, we have also evacuated three Indonesians from Houthi-controlled northern Yemen, as well as two others from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They are also expected to arrive today,” Nugraha added.
