"This launch is a real manifestation of the government's commitment to building a complete and sustainable migrant worker protection ecosystem, starting from the village, which is the source of life for our migrant workers," Christina said online at the inauguration, as stated by the P2MI Ministry, here on Wednesday.
The Migrant Workers' Golden Village was launched in three villages in Wonosobo, Central Java, on Wednesday (June 25). These villages are Jlamprang, Kuripan, and Margosari.
These three villages are projected to serve as models for safe and legal migration management for migrant workers and are expected to directly boost local economic growth.
The deputy minister, commonly known as Christina, is upbeat that the Migrant Workers' Golden Village would ensure that every villager intending to work abroad has access to correct, accurate, and easily accessible information.
She stated that the Migrant Workers' Golden Village should become a center for safe migration information, as well as a means to combat illegal practices, including brokers who often deceive migrant workers.
"It is time for the village to become a protector, not a hunting ground for brokers and syndicates. Through the Migrant Workers' Golden Village, we want to ensure that every Indonesian migrant worker departs safely, works with dignity, and returns with hope," she affirmed.
The deputy minister also hoped that the Migrant Workers' Golden Village would manage and empower remittances sent by migrant workers abroad.
"Remittances are not just money, but they represent potential for village development, better family welfare, and a stronger local economy," she added.
Meanwhile, Wonosobo Regent Afif Nurhidayat stated that the Migrant Workers' Golden Village is a highly strategic effort to build a more inclusive, structured, and equitable placement and protection system for Indonesian migrant workers.
He stated that the Wonosobo District Government has also established regional regulations to protect Indonesian migrant workers.
Several villages in Wonosobo have also enacted village regulations to safeguard their residents as migrant workers.
The number of Indonesian migrant workers from Wonosobo has reached 695 people.
Minister of P2MI Abdul Kadir Karding earlier inaugurated the three villages and said the concept of the Migrant Workers Golden Village was designed to improve the governance of recruitment and placement.
This step is necessary to enhance protection services for Indonesian migrant workers.
"I want to raise awareness so that all migrant workers go abroad procedurally, and they do not experience many problems," he remarked.
