Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (Wamen P2MI), Christina Aryani, announced that her ministry is prepared to collaborate with Japanese companies on the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in Japan.

"We are always interested because the potential and opportunities for placing migrant workers in Japan are very significant," Christina stated during a presentation on the current status of Indonesian migrant worker placements to Goooood Ltd. from Japan, held in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 18), according to the Ministry of P2MI's announcement on Wednesday evening.

In her statement, Christina emphasized that her ministry seeks to expand opportunities for the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in Japan.

Christina emphasized that the Ministry of P2MI is also open to various forms of cooperation and placement mechanisms.

One of the efforts being made is inviting companies in Japan to hold business meetings with Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI).

"We will involve P3MI that specialize in placement in Japan and use the P2P (private to private) scheme that we are already familiar with," she explained.

Christina also noted that the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in Japan is open across various sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, transportation, fisheries, and agriculture.

Moreover, Vice Minister Christina reminded companies or recruitment agencies in Japan to use government-involved schemes and follow proper procedures.

"Recruitment should not occur through training institutions, direct hiring, or as part of internships," she remarked.

She explained that this approach aims to ensure better protection for Indonesian migrants working in Japan.

"If they are directly recruited by LPKs (work training institutions) for placement, the migrant workers are not registered in our system, and we cannot ensure their protection," Christina elaborated.

According to system records, there are currently 1,389 job opportunities under the private-to-private (P to P) placement scheme in Japan, covering various job positions and sectors.
