"I convey that Indonesia upholds the principle of being free and active, both in the political and economic context,” Sri Mulyani posted on her Instagram account on Wednesday (June 25).
The minister made the statement during a media interview on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Annual Meeting in Beijing.
During the interview, she discussed the current geopolitical climate and its effects on the economy, Federal Reserve policy, and the current state of Indonesia’s State Budget.
According to Mulyani, the State Budget remains well managed, with the deficit still on track, with the latest record of Rp21 trillion, or 0.09 percent of the GDP, as of May 2025.
Overall, in terms of revenue, spending, and financing, the Budget is maintained with countercyclical policies to address ongoing geopolitical upheaval.
For reference, state revenue stood at Rp995.3 trillion, state expenditure at Rp1,016.3 trillion, and budget financing at Rp324.8 trillion.
Sri Mulyani also invited countries to cooperate with Indonesia in addressing the current global economic turmoil.
"Indonesia is open to working with various countries for the common welfare and interests," she noted.
Earlier, she discussed the impact of the Iran-Israel conflict with Saudi Arabian Finance Minister Muhammad Al Jadaan and Qatari Finance Minister Ali Alkuwari on the sidelines of the AIIB meeting.
She noted that all parties expressed hope for a de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the achievement of a peace agreement for the benefit of humanity.
