Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director Tuhiyat announced that Phase 2 of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project—stretching from Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) Station to Kota Station—has achieved 49 percent completion.

"As of now, the six-kilometer stretch from Bundaran HI to Kota has reached an average progress of around 49 percent," he stated during the 2025 GRC Series event, titled “The Future of Corporate Governance: A Balance Between Power, Purpose, and Principles,” held in Jakarta on Thursday.

Tuhiyat explained that tunnel boring has successfully connected segments along the route, with the current efforts focused on linking the Harmoni to Mangga Besar sections.

"By August or September next year, the line is expected to be fully connected through to Kota Station," he stated.

Phase 2 of the MRT Jakarta project spans approximately 11.8 kilometers from Bundaran HI to Ancol Barat, extending the north-south corridor established in Phase 1, which has been operational since 2019 and runs from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI.

Upon completion of Phase 2, the north-south corridor will total about 27.8 kilometers, with travel time from Lebak Bulus Grab Station to Kota Station estimated at approximately 45 minutes.

Phase 2 consists of two segments: Phase 2A and Phase 2B.

Phase 2A features seven underground stations: Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota.

Phase 2B includes two additional underground stations—Mangga Dua and Ancol—as well as a depot at Ancol Marina.

"(The work on) Phase 2 is underway. From Kota, we will extend the line to Ancol Marina, covering nearly six kilometers. We are currently finalizing studies for the depot construction at the Ancol Marina endpoint," Tuhiyat explained.

He acknowledged several project challenges, including underground utilities, cultural heritage sites, and land acquisition issues.

However, he stressed that the company continues to engage in proactive and constructive communication with stakeholders and relevant authorities to address these obstacles.
