Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned Pertamina's subsidiary, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, announced it has provided an additional 7.38 million three-kg gas canisters to accommodate rising demand during the 1447 Hijri Islamic New Year holiday from Friday through the weekend.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Heppy Wulansari stated that the provision of additional stock is part of the company's commitment to maintaining national energy security, especially during religious festivities and long holidays.

"Reflecting on the previous long holiday, there was a spike in (demand for) subsidized three-kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) canisters, so we have prepared an additional stock of 7.38 million three-kg gas cylinders nationally," she noted in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Meanwhile, the company has also built up stock for fuel filling services according to needs in several areas with high demand such as Malang in East Java Province, Bukittinggi in West Sumatra Province, and other cities with tourist destinations.

Wulansari noted that the distribution of additional energy supplies was carried out across all regions by considering consumption trends and potential spikes in demand in each region, as well as looking at consumption patterns for the Islamic New Year celebrations, which were concentrated in several areas with various cultural and religious activities and coinciding with the school holidays.

"We urge the public to purchase three-kg LPG cylinders at official outlets to obtain the highest retail price set by the government and not to make excessive purchases," she added.
