Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry (Kemenperin) urges domestic industries to increase their participation in developing power generation facilities using new and renewable energy (NRE) sources, supporting the national roadmap to achieve Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060.

“We are encouraging the growth of supporting industries for NRE, such as solar cells, batteries, control panels, generators, hydro turbines, and wind turbines,” Setia Diarta, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE), stated in Jakarta on Saturday.

He cited PT Schneider Electric Indonesia’s establishment of its third factory in Cikarang, West Java, as a strategic move to strengthen the national manufacturing sector—especially the electrical equipment industry—by utilizing sustainable domestic resources.

“This development is not merely the launch of a new production line but also a symbol of our shared resolve to position Indonesia as a major global manufacturing player. It is time to rise, innovate, and prove that Indonesians are capable of competing in advanced technology industries,” Setia affirmed.

At the inauguration of the expanded Schneider Electric plant in Cikarang, Solehan, Director of Machinery and Agricultural Machinery Industries at the Ministry, stressed the importance of using domestically produced components throughout industrial production and procurement processes.

Kemenperin expressed optimism that the new facility will attract more high-quality investments and foster cross-sectoral synergies to boost industrial self-reliance, support a green economy, and build a globally competitive and sustainable future for Indonesia.

Martin Setiawan, President Director of Schneider Electric Indonesia and Timor-Leste, stated that the smart factory expansion in Cikarang reflects Schneider Electric’s long-term commitment to supporting Indonesia’s industrial transformation and resilience agenda.

“This initiative also embodies the shared spirit of Indonesia and France in driving innovation and accelerating green technologies. Schneider Electric’s presence in Indonesia is not just about industrial investment—it is part of a joint mission to build a robust, globally competitive ecosystem prepared for the future through digital innovation and clean energy,” he stated.

The Cikarang facility is one of Schneider Electric’s global smart factories, representing the company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation. It features EcoStruxure™ technology, rooftop solar panels, AI-based automation, and digital Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), all designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Fabien Penone, French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, noted that France and Indonesia continue to strengthen their bilateral economic partnership, as reaffirmed by Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Prabowo Subianto during their meeting on May 28, 2025.

“Many French companies are actively supporting the development of Indonesia’s industrial and technological sectors. Schneider Electric is a prime example, demonstrating its long-term commitment to sustainable development in Indonesia,” the ambassador stated.
