Hafid’s message was conveyed by her special staff member, Alfreno Kautsar Ramadhan, during an event entitled “The Introduction and Implementation of AI in Yogyakarta: Leveraging AI to Produce a Digitally Capable Generation” at the Yogyakarta Multi Media College (STMM) on Friday.
“By learning how to leverage AI, you will not be replaced. Instead, you will emerge as prominent actors in the era of technological disruption brought by AI. You will assume control over this matter,” he told students, according to a statement released here on Saturday.
Ramadhan emphasized that Hafid considered the event a valuable platform for her ministry to demonstrate its commitment to developing digital talents who not only have mastery over technology but also drive positive change.
“Madam Minister wants this campus to become an enabling medium, a polytechnic that supports and leads digital transformation. She hopes that STMM will evolve into a polytechnic of digital affairs,” he said.
He then stressed the need to foster an ecosystem that connects colleges, industries, and the government to support the national target of producing nine million digital talents by 2030.
“We need leaders with digital skills to help the nation navigate the fast-changing landscape of technological disruption,” he said.
In this context, he reported that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has launched several initiatives to meet the demand for reliable digital talents, including a partnership with global technology giant Microsoft.
He said that the company has committed to investing US$1.7 billion in digital skills training programs in Indonesia, which are expected to produce over 800 thousand job-ready talents.
Ramadhan said that Hafid wants the younger generation to take shared responsibility in advancing the national digital transformation.
“Madam Minister wants you to play an active role rather than be mere spectators. She hopes you will emerge as innovators and leaders with the courage to take action,” he added.
