In a statement on Sunday, he emphasized that such programs are essential for accelerating the reduction of poverty in Indonesia. According to him, these initiatives enable students to contribute to poverty alleviation through community empowerment activities that align with their academic disciplines.
"We must integrate scientific findings as a vital part of tackling poverty," he remarked.
The minister expressed hope that student involvement would help foster an effective empowerment ecosystem, noting that community empowerment requires the collaboration of all stakeholders to accelerate poverty reduction.
To support this effort, the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment will continue coordinating nationwide poverty alleviation programs, with the goal of achieving zero percent extreme poverty in Indonesia by 2026.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto expressed confidence that Indonesia could eliminate poverty well before 2045, as the country’s economy is projected to be among the world’s top six.
The President has also issued Presidential Instruction No. 8 of 2025 on the Optimization of Poverty Alleviation and Extreme Poverty Eradication, directing all relevant agencies to implement accurate and integrated programs to eliminate poverty.
