The inauguration took place as part of the 2025 Bhayangkara Day celebration, which marks the 79th anniversary of the Polri, at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.
"In the name of God, this morning, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby launch Polri's SPPGs across Indonesia," he stated in a video broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.
The president emphasized that the MBG program is a strategic initiative to shape a better future for the nation.
"I would like to thank the police for contributing to this initiative. Both the police and military stand at the forefront in this major program," he affirmed.
Earlier, on June 17, Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that his institution aims to establish at least 118 SPPGs nationwide.
He noted that the police currently operate 12 units, with 21 more undergoing verification by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
He also emphasized the importance of all MBG stakeholders adhering to strict standards for meal and raw material quality to prevent food poisoning.
“We will strive to pay close attention to meal quality to prevent poisoning,” he remarked after inaugurating an SPPG organized by the Jembrana Resort Police in Jembrana District, Bali.
The Polri also voiced its readiness to collaborate with stakeholders across sectors, including regional governments, academics, and health experts, to support the effective implementation of the MBG program.
On Monday (June 30), BGN reported that the program had so far met the nutritional needs of 5,582,470 beneficiaries through 1,861 SPPGs, which have employed 75,325 workers nationwide.
Beneficiaries include schoolchildren, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.
