Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Singaraja Immigration Office, Bali, has deported a German national for overstaying in Indonesia by 2.5 months.

“This case began with a public report regarding the presence of a foreign national who allegedly violated immigration regulations in the Singaraja area,” the head of Singaraja Immigration, Hendra Setiawan, informed in Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday.

The German national arrived in Bali on December 5, 2024, on a visit stay permit.

However, until June 12, 2025, the 75-year-old had not extended his stay permit in Bali. He was, therefore, detained by immigration officers.

Immigration found the German national negligent for overstaying in Bali.

In keeping with the provisions of Article 78 paragraph 3 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, the foreign national was subject to administrative immigration actions in the form of deportation and deterrence.

He was sent to Munich, Germany, from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport via Bangkok.

According to Article 102 of the law, deportation can be carried out for a maximum of six months and can be extended for a maximum of six months each time.

In addition, foreigners can face lifetime deportation, or permanent expulsion, if they are considered disruptive to public security and order.

To improve supervision of foreign nationals, the Singaraja Immigration has opened the hotline service number 0813-5390-9733.

People can file a report on the hotline if they find foreign nationals engaging in suspicious activities or suspect them to be violating immigration rules, accompanied by supporting evidence.

The Singaraja Immigration also has a rapid reaction unit that supervises foreign nationals.

“We routinely conduct immigration patrols at points that are considered vulnerable to the presence of illegal foreign nationals. We also appreciate the active role of the community,” Setiawan said.

The working area of the Singaraja Immigration covers Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem districts.

It said that during January–June 2025, 15 foreign nationals were deported from the immigration work area for various reasons, including overstaying and conducting activities in violation of their visa conditions.
