Wonosobo (ANTARA) - Central Java’s Wonosobo will host the Java Balloon Attraction 2025 on Sunday (July 6) at Kalianget Recreation Park to mark the 200th anniversary of the district.

The head of Wonosobo’s Tourism and Culture Office, Agus Wibowo, said that the event will be a vibrant fusion of tradition and innovation.

It will feature 36 tethered hot air balloons forming aerial patterns and depicting regional icons such as Mount Sindoro and Menjer Lake, Wibowo informed.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Wonosobo Balloon Community.

The Ministry of Law will hand over an intellectual property certificate recognizing the Wonosobo Balloon Tradition to the Wonosobo district head at the event.

“It’s a meaningful validation of our cultural legacy,” Wibowo said.

The balloon show is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. local time to capitalize on favorable morning weather.

The show will comply with safety regulations and serve as the main attraction at the event.

The event will also feature traditional cultural performances—such as Topeng Lengger, Lengger Punjen, and Angklung Tek Tek—as well as a local micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) bazaar, balloon-themed educational activities, and content creator appreciation.

Representatives from the Ministry of Law, local government, aviation authorities, and tourism organizations are expected to attend the event.

Designated a flagship tourism agenda since 2023, the event aims to showcase Wonosobo’s cultural heritage and creative economy.
