“This is part of the Industry Ministry and all stakeholders’ efforts to improve the competitiveness of local products, introduce our local products whose quality can undoubtedly compete with its counterparts from other countries,” Riza added here on Thursday.
The deputy minister said that his ministry is actively supporting the development of the food and beverage industry, as it is one of the strategic sectors that serves as a pillar of the national economy.

He added that milk production needs to be increased to reduce milk imports. Therefore, the ministry is focusing on initiatives to develop the domestic industry by pushing innovation in fermented products and foods, as well as the diversification of milk sources.
Specialty Indonesia, which will be hosted from July 4–8, 2025, is a measure to meet that goal, he said. The event will showcase curated premium domestic products, such as coffee, cocoa, tea, and processed fruits.
“Specialty refers to products with the best quality (or which meet) specified standards, such as aroma, flavor, to a sustainable production process using modern technology,” Riza elaborated.
He highlighted the current global trend of creating premium products with sustainability in mind. This presents a huge opportunity for Indonesia to dominate the market by tapping into the potential of local biodiversity.
The ministry has opened registration for some activities at the event, such as an exhibition, a business matching, and a competition.
“We compel all industry players, potential buyers, and the general public to participate. Together, we will encourage the growth of Indonesia’s food and beverage industry, so it becomes more competitive in the global market," he added.
