Sharing the results of the bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Saudi Crown Prince and Premier Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS), Umar stated that one of the approved requests concerns the development of Hajj settlements for Indonesians.
"All of Mr. President's requests have been granted by the Saudi authority, including for the development of a Hajj settlement," Umar stated on the sidelines of Prabowo's visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
The second request involves enhancements to make "future Hajj pilgrimages more convenient for the pilgrims," he remarked while promising that President Prabowo will soon share the details with the public.
According to the minister, the president also raised the issue of the high number of deaths among Indonesian pilgrims during the meeting with MBS.
"The president brought up the matter, and the crown prince was astonished that so many Indonesian pilgrims seemingly chose to pass away in Saudi Arabia," Umar noted.
He further explained that President Prabowo attended three separate meetings, each of which discussed different issues, during his visit to Al Salam Royal Palace in Jeddah.
"The first was an open meeting attended by all the participating ministers, including ours. The second is a closed-door meeting in a different chamber, and the third talk took place over a banquet," he stated.
The president concluded his agenda in Jeddah on Wednesday evening and continued his visit to another country on Thursday.
Before leaving Saudi Arabia, Prabowo and his entourage performed the Umrah pilgrimage at the Great Mosque of Mecca, where he circumambulated the Kaaba and performed other Umrah rituals.
