Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating film vocational schools in preparing industry-ready talent.

During a discussion with B Film School on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that her side is open to collaborating with vocational schools to nurture young film professionals.

"The ministry is opening up collaboration with various vocational education institutions such as B Film School," she noted in a statement on Friday.

"We believe the future of Indonesian film depends not only on creativity but also on an adaptive education system, strong industry connections, and responsiveness to market demands," Umar affirmed.

She acknowledged film as a vital part of the creative economy, which is expected to drive innovation, provide jobs for young people, and serve as a new engine of economic growth.

Umar also highlighted the importance of collaboration to increase human resources (HR) capacity in the film sector and to promote the growth of the national film industry.

"There should be no sectoral egos that hamper our efforts. It is time to work together and build a mutually supportive ecosystem," Umar emphasized.

Officials from the Ministry of Creative Economy and B Film School discussed collaboration in facilitating industry internships, conducting joint research, fulfilling HR needs, and participating in film festivals.

B Film School, established in March 2025, is designed to produce young talent for the film industry.

The school applies a practice-based educational approach and collaborates with the industry to prepare film professionals.

B Film School Vice Principal Agung Ariefiandi expressed hope that the ministry would help the school connect with other stakeholders, including production houses, professional associations, and government institutions.

"The challenges facing today's industry are not only about the quality of human resources but also the lack of synergy between actors. We need to build an ecosystem," Ariefiandi stated.

Meanwhile, data from Cinepoint and filmindonesia.or.id show that the number of Indonesian film viewers in the January-June 2025 period reached 42.6 million, or half of last year's total of 82.1 million local film viewers.
