He made the statement ahead of the BRICS Summit attended by President Prabowo Subianto in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday (July 5).
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to be in Brazil until July 9, 2025. His agenda includes attending the BRICS Leaders’ Summit on July 6 and 7 at the Museum of Modern Art (MMA) in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a bilateral meeting with Brazil in Brasília on July 8 and 9.
“We very much welcome the NDB and invite the bank to support us, especially in infrastructure financing. That is one of the key areas we have discussed both within BRICS and also with the NDB,” Djiwandono stated.

According to him, the BRICS approach to governance, which emphasizes equality and mutual respect among member countries, sets NDB apart from traditional global financial institutions.
He also dismissed some concerns raised by several analysts that NDB could become as dominant as the IMF.
“I do not see that happening because BRICS' governance approach is very different. BRICS countries always respect each other’s positions,” he added.
Djiwandono stated that Indonesia sees NDB as a potential strategic partner, especially in supporting infrastructure financing for national development.
In recent months, he elaborated, there has been intensive communication with NDB, including meetings between Indonesian leaders and the NDB president in Jakarta.
Regarding the list of potential infrastructure projects to be funded by NDB, Djiwandono explained that this falls under the authority of the Ministry of Investment, while the Finance Ministry supports the process in terms of policy coordination.
“NDB really sees investment potential in our projects, without interference from other countries. This is genuinely a mutually beneficial partnership,” he said.
