Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that Prambanan Jazz is not just a music festival but also serves as a strategic means to advance Indonesia's diplomacy through cultural initiatives.

"Prambanan Jazz Festival is proof that music is a universal language. By combining a world heritage landscape like Prambanan Temple (to set the stage) for international musicians, we not only offer performances but also highlight the narrative on Indonesia's cultural strength," Zon affirmed.

In a statement received here on Monday, the minister noted that the festival, now in its 11th year, weaves a harmonious blend of nature, music, and culture.

"The Culture Ministry encourages all festivals, including Prambanan Jazz Festival, to remain connected to their cultural roots. Involving local artists, utilizing heritage sites like Prambanan Temple, and fostering cross-generational collaboration are important for strengthening national identity," he elaborated.

Regarding the festival, Zon stated that global jazz maestro Kenny G returned to grace the stage with his presence, alongside a Korean-American singer who inspires youth through his emotional and poetic works, he remarked.

Moreover, the Prambanan Jazz Festival features local musicians from various generations, showcasing Indonesia's musical talent.

To add to the artistic vibes, the festival collaborates with Yogyakarta-based contemporary artist duo Indieguerillas, who created an art installation titled Pohon Hayat (Tree of Life), the minister stated.

Zon explained that the creation was inspired by the temple's reliefs, which depict the balance and harmony between humanity and nature.

The minister also encouraged attendees and visitors to wear Indonesia's wastra, or traditional fabrics, to further promote the nation's diverse textiles.

"They are very stylish to wear for concerts or festivals like this. We should be prouder and more confident in (wearing) them," Zon emphasized.

Hence, he commended the Prambanan Jazz Festival for encouraging people to embrace the national culture during the event.

The festival was held at Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta, on July 4-6.
