Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo discussed the financing strategy for the Red and White Village Cooperatives.

The discussion was held during a visit by a team from the SOEs Ministry to the Finance Ministry's Financial Education and Training Agency.

Indrawati stated that the discussion delved deeper into the design of a wise, credible, and accountable governance structure for the Red and White Village Cooperatives.

"In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's message, the financing and governance strategy of the Red and White Village Cooperatives is key to ensuring the sustainability of this initiative. This will continue to be a focus of the government," Indrawati noted on her Instagram account @smindrawati here on Wednesday.

The minister expressed hope that the Red and White Village Cooperatives would become a new foundation for village economic independence and be managed transparently, allowing the cooperatives to grow well and deliver tangible benefits to the community.

Previously, Cooperatives Minister Budi Arie Setiadi had proposed an additional budget of Rp5.98 trillion for 2025 to strengthen the Red and White Village Cooperatives.

"(We aim to strengthen the foundation of the cooperatives), with a focus on management support of Rp340 billion and cooperative support of around Rp5.6 trillion," Setiadi stated during a working meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that the proposed budget is intended to implement the ministry's seven main tasks as outlined in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 9 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of the Establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperatives.

The proposed budget allocation includes Rp500 million for developing a business model for the Red and White Village Cooperatives, Rp3.90 billion for creating a module to establish 80 thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives, and Rp30.94 billion for inventorying existing cooperatives.

In addition, the proposed budget covers Rp5.10 trillion to facilitate mentoring, education, and training of cooperative human resources; Rp220.36 billion for strengthening digital-based cooperative management; Rp163.15 billion for widespread promotion of the formation of 80 thousand cooperatives; and Rp140.63 billion for monitoring and evaluating the formation of 80 thousand cooperatives.
