Speaking at the launch of the AI Center of Excellence here on Friday, Patria said that the government is encouraging partnerships that include technology transfers between start-ups and global tech companies specializing in AI.
“We are pushing these companies to collaborate with major corporations and global tech firms so that knowledge transfer can take place. This will also provide a good thing for Indonesia’s younger generation to learn best practices from global technology companies,” he added.
He then stressed the need to involve universities both within and outside Java Island in collaborations focused on AI knowledge and technology transfer.
“We must ensure that every city in Indonesia, not only those in Java, but also in Papua, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, can access this technology,” he added.
Patria said that initiatives like the AI Center of Excellence need to be bolstered to strengthen digital talents and expand AI adoption across the country.
The AI Center of Excellence is driven by multi-stakeholder collaboration involving government institutions, universities, industry players, and communities.
Patria said that the center will serve as a hub for knowledge and technology transfer related to the development and application of AI in all aspects.
“As a hub, the AI Center of Excellence will act as a ‘lighthouse platform’ to foster collaboration, empower both global and local networks, share skills, and lead innovation programs,” he explained.
