“The Lampung provincial government is currently building a tourism ecosystem,” head of the Lampung Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Bobby Irawan, said here on Saturday.
“The tourism ecosystem will be integrated from upstream to downstream, where local communities in tourist areas or tourism villages will be involved in its implementation,” he informed.
The province will aim to ensure tourism activities go beyond small events, he added.
He said that as part of the ecosystem development, the province will focus on organizing year-round tourism programs. It will also hold annual events and festivals, supported by travel agencies.
Tourist destinations will also partner with local communities and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to provide food, souvenirs, and other services, he elaborated.
Accommodation and tour guide services will be managed in collaboration with residents living in or near tourism villages, he added.
“We are developing this collaborative model, and the regional government will assist in promotion efforts and facilitate communication with investors to help grow the tourism investment climate,” he informed.
Moreover, he said that the provincial government also plans to improve the capacity of tourism business operators by providing training to guides and destination managers in tourism villages to ensure high-quality and professional services.
“We will continue to promote these potentials, as they generate economic benefits for the locals and help improve their welfare,” he added.
Lampung province is targeting 20 million tourist visits in 2025. Based on the National Tourism Information System, there are 677 tourist destinations spread across 15 districts and cities in the province.
