"Both Shandong and Lampung stand as food-producing regions and host strategic international seaports. These shared characteristics create avenues for concrete cooperation in developing modern agriculture and industrial areas," he said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
Djausal represented Indonesia at the 2025 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week in Shandong, China, on Tuesday. He was accompanied by officials from Malang city, East Java province.
On the occasion, the governor and his counterpart from Shandong signed a letter of intent on cooperation, which is expected to be followed up with a virtual meeting on the formulation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding.
Both parties also expressed interest in expanding cooperation to include human development initiatives—such as scholarships and youth exchanges—as well as the use of advanced technologies such as satellites to enhance regional planning and public service quality.

Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Lampung, Elvira Umihani, said that Lampung's participation in Tuesday's event was intended to foster international partnerships that can have a tangible positive impact on the welfare of residents.
Currently, Lampung is known as a national powerhouse of rice, horticultural commodities, robusta coffee, and cassava. Support from Shandong's modern agricultural technologies is expected to boost the productivity and efficiency of local farmers.
As the third-largest economy in China, Shandong has emerged as a notable industrial region equipped with solid and integrated supporting systems.
The Chinese province has the capacity to help Lampung modernize key infrastructure and facilities for industrial growth.
