Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta’s traffic enforcement campaign, Operasi Patuh Jaya 2025, will target not only private vehicles but also official government vehicles, according to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya).

"Now, even official vehicles are detected by the ETLE (Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement) system — not just civilian ones," said Chief Commissioner Komarudin, Director of Traffic at Polda Metro Jaya, on Monday.

The police are coordinating with the National Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam) and the military police to support the campaign, which will run from July 14 to 27.

"This year, we're focusing on driver behavior, not just the type of vehicle," Komarudin said.

The campaign includes public education, preventive efforts, and law enforcement. Komarudin emphasized that enforcement will focus on areas without fixed ETLE cameras, which are more prone to violations.

"We'll also maximize the use of mobile ETLE units to reduce direct contact between officers and violators," he added.

He encouraged residents to keep using private vehicles, but to comply with all traffic regulations.

"Public compliance alone can help reduce Jakarta’s traffic problems," he stated.

Polda Metro Jaya has deployed 2,938 joint personnel for the 14-day operation.

This year's campaign carries the theme: "Orderly Traffic for the Realization of a Golden Indonesia."

Traffic discipline is seen as an important reflection of public adherence to the law, and as part of broader efforts to build a safer, more prosperous nation.
