Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has disbursed Rp6.88 trillion (over US$421 million) in Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) to 11.4 million workers between June 23 and July 1, according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

"This reflects the state's commitment to supporting its citizens amid various economic challenges," she said in an Instagram post on Thursday.

"It's not just about maintaining purchasing power, but also about encouraging workers to continue contributing, as they are the driving force behind our economic progress," she added.

Indrawati urged the public to make the most of the support programs to help build a more competitive and sustainable economy.

The BSU is one of five economic stimulus programs launched by the government to help people meet their daily needs.

Eligible recipients must earn no more than Rp3.5 million (US$214.25) per month. Each worker receives a subsidy of Rp300,000 per month for two months, delivered as a one-time payment of Rp600,000.

Manpower Minister Yassierli said that around 85 percent of the targeted 15 million recipients have received the assistance so far.
