Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government reported a sharp rise in the issuance of business permits and certifications for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the first half of 2025, reflecting ongoing regulatory reforms and improved interagency coordination.

Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said the progress underscores the government's commitment to streamlining business processes and making them more inclusive for MSMEs.

"Our goal is clear: to make business licensing and certification more accessible to MSMEs, giving them as much space as possible to grow," he said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.

As of July 2, total disbursement of microcredit through the government’s subsidized loan program, KUR, had reached Rp132.7 trillion (US$8.13 billion), or more than 44 percent of the annual target.

KUR has benefited 2.3 million borrowers so far this year — about 66 percent of the targeted 3.5 million MSMEs. Nearly 60 percent of the loans, or Rp79.6 trillion, were directed to production sectors. Maman expressed confidence that credit distribution will meet the 2025 target.

In the first half of the year, more than 24,800 distribution permits were issued. In the second quarter alone, around 194,000 MSMEs received SNI Bina UMK certificates — part of a program helping small businesses comply with Indonesia's national product standards.

The government also issued over 654,500 halal certificates in the second quarter. Since the program's launch in 2019, more than 2.4 million halal certificates have been granted, covering over 6.6 million products.

According to the government's Online Single Submission (OSS) system, over 1.4 million business identification numbers (NIBs) were issued in Q2 — a 95.4 percent increase from Q1. Since the system was introduced in 2021, a total of 13 million NIBs have been issued.
