Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy and the National Creative Economy Movement (GEKRAFS) are collaborating to develop Indonesia's creative economy sector, starting from regions in the country.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties in Jakarta on Sunday.

"This MoU is a basis for a more concrete cooperation in supporting the strengthening of the national creative economy ecosystem, which starts from regions," Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky noted in a statement received on Monday.

This collaboration marks the initial step in building a long-term collaboration between the government and the creative community.

GEKRAFS is regarded as a strategic partner, having actively contributed for over five years by expanding creative economy literacy, producing new entrepreneurs, bolstering employment opportunities, and preserving Indonesia's culture and creative products.

The collaboration between the ministry and GEKRAFS covers data and information exchange, policy-making support related to the creative economy, funding and financing facilitation, and infrastructure utilization.

Moreover, a key focus of the collaboration is marketing creative economy products based on intellectual property.

Furthermore, both parties will work together on information dissemination and facilitation of intellectual property rights, protect creative economy products, strengthen the capacity of creative economy players, and carry out other forms of collaboration.

GEKRAFS Chairperson Kawendra Lukistian expressed hope that the partnership would result in regulations supportive of creative economy players.

"Parties in regions can collaborate with the relevant offices to harmonize the existing programs," he affirmed.

The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to continuing to encourage partnerships with various communities, including GEKRAFS, to ensure equitable creative economy development across regions.

The collaboration is expected to be a concrete step towards strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian creative players at the national and global levels.
