“The Red and White Village Cooperative is a government initiative that reflects the state's presence for the people, ensuring they feel the government's support,” she said at the launch of the program on Monday.
The event, held in Bentangan Village, Wonosari, Klaten, Central Java, was officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
Maharani emphasized the importance of government services that directly address public needs, including access to education, healthcare, fertilizer distribution, and agricultural marketing.
She added that the cooperative program demonstrates the government's commitment to prioritizing the people’s welfare.
“This commitment is evident through services and programs designed to strengthen the people’s economy,” she said.
According to Maharani, government programs should ultimately aim to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
“Cooperatives are a vehicle for driving social and economic transformation toward a self-reliant society,” she stated.
The Red and White Village Co-ops program targets the establishment of 80,000 village-based cooperatives — either newly formed, developed from existing ones, or revitalized from inactive cooperatives.
Funding for the program will come from various sources, including the state budget (APBN), regional budgets (APBD), village funds (APBDes), and other contributions.
To ensure the program’s effectiveness, Maharani stressed the need for competent human resources, a supportive business environment, and regular internal oversight.
"Successful cooperatives require skilled personnel, a conducive ecosystem, and strong internal controls. We must be well-prepared in implementing these practices," she said.
