Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and the Ministry of Culture have formed a collaborative partnership on cultural research to realize integrated, innovative governance that has a broad impact on society.

This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Synergy in the Implementation of Duties and Functions in the Field of Culture and the Field of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, signed on July 23.

"We believe that we can ask our colleagues on campus to conduct research on several issues related to existing programs within the Ministry of Culture and other ministries, to support the educational process for developing human resources and so on," Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto noted in a written statement received here on Wednesday.

Through this synergy, Yuliarto noted that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and the Ministry of Culture are committed to creating new collaborative spaces for cultural research.

The collaboration is expected to provide a solid foundation for the development of policies that support the advancement of science and cultural preservation for a sovereign, character-based, and globally competitive Indonesia.

Yuliarto will follow up on that collaboration by consolidating it with universities, so that it can be implemented in the form of concrete programs that have an impact on society.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that science, technology, and culture must go hand in hand to advance the nation.

"Let us not abandon culture. In the future, we can collaborate and be interconnected, so that the nation's progress is inseparable from the culture that forms the nation's identity," he affirmed.

On the same occasion, a cooperation agreement was also signed by the Secretaries General of three ministries: the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

This collaboration governs the procurement of goods and services that support the strengthening of joint programs.
