Two notable Indonesian male swimmers, I Gede Siman Sudartawa and Felix Viktor Iberle, are set to compete in the World Championships, taking place in Singapore from July 11 to August 3.
"This competition serves as an intermediate goal for Siman and Felix before the SEA Games," coach Albert Christiadi Sutanto told ANTARA on Monday.
"We hope Felix can reach at least the semifinals. For Siman, it is simply a time target here," Sutanto remarked.
The Indonesian team arrived in Singapore on Friday, July 25, ahead of the swimming events starting July 27.
Only Felix and Siman qualified from Indonesia for this prestigious event, competing against world-class competitors.
Felix will compete on Tuesday, July 29, in the men's 50m breaststroke, while Siman will take to the pool on Saturday, August 2, for the men's 50m backstroke.
"In terms of preparation, we should all be fine so far. We have tapered training because Felix will compete tomorrow," Albert explained, referring to tapering, a method of reducing training intensity.
Beyond swimming, the Indonesian Aquatics Association (PB Aquatik Indonesia) has also sent representatives for other aquatic disciplines.
The Indonesian divers competing include Muhammad Yudha Prastiyo, Nur Mufidah Sudirman, Gladies Lariesa Garina Haga, and Andriyan.
Earlier, five other Indonesian swimmers — Aflah Fadlan Prawira, Alexander Adrian, Akbar Putra Taufik, Izzy Dwifaiva Hefrisyanthi, and Desak Nyoman Shiva —competed in the open water swimming events at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.
The Indonesian Aquatics Board also sent a contingent of athletes for artistic swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championship. These include Amandha Mutiara Putri, Auliya Mustika Putri, Khansa Fathiyyah Zahrani, Mutiara Nur Azizah, Nawrah Qanita Zhfirah, Nurfa Nurul Utami, Rani Asriani Rahman, Rasya Annisa, Talitha Amabelle Putri Subeni, and Hilda Tri Julyandra.
