"We are determined to ensure that some 10 thousand village cooperatives will have begun operating by August," he remarked while expressing confidence that the number will grow further.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, he noted that the government has prepared initiatives to advance the KDMP program, including visits to regions nationwide to review the cooperatives' readiness to begin business operations.
He remarked that the government has been working to facilitate the establishment of KDMP task forces in all cities and districts nationwide.
"So far, over 300 task forces have been formed, and the Ministry of Home Affairs aims to complete the establishment of such task forces in all 514 districts and cities this week," Hasan remarked.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises and Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency have been tasked with guiding village cooperatives in identifying the best business models and managing their operations properly.
He also reiterated that the government envisions the cooperatives operating without relying on the state budget.
"Finance Minister’s Regulation No. 49 of 2025 stipulates that each cooperative has access to a loan worth no higher than Rp3 billion (around US$182 thousand). Note that this is a loan, not a grant," he stated.
President Prabowo Subianto officially launched around 80 thousand KDMPs nationwide in Klaten District, Central Java, on July 21. However, not all of them have begun operating as business entities.
Among the 80 thousand cooperatives, the government has designated 108 as pilot models for the initial phase of the program’s implementation. They are expected to set benchmarks for other cooperatives preparing to commence operations.
